Part 2 of DrawThisDress week! The Heiress and Her Pet Cuttlefish.
Based on this Evening Dress by Charles Frederick Worth, the Father of Modern Couture, made between 1893 and 1900.
As well as based on this painting of Marie Antoinette, made by Madame Vigée-Lebrun in 1783.
While the pieces are a century apart- Worth was massively inspired by the 18th Century Revival going on in Fashion at the time. So the gown would’ve been considered “Retro” or “Vintage” for its time period, much like we wear dresses inspired from the 20s!
